Rise of One-Person Households

A short post with statistics that are somewhat related to the previous post.

The map of shares of one-person households in the world strongly correlates with the kinship index intensity map discussed in the last post.

The share of such households is growing in most countries of the world, probably reflecting the gradual destruction of traditional large families and the transformation of people into being WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic).

The share of such households is closely related to GDP per capita, highlighting the importance of the R (Rich) in the WEIRD acronym.
