Mortality Through the Ages
Small addendum to the previous post.
Today we have a small addition to the previous post, showing how much human mortality has changed in modern times. In the 18th century, infant mortality was higher than mortality among 80-year-olds. Over the time that has passed to the present, mortality has decreased for all age groups, but especially significantly for newborns—by 2 orders of magnitude. The pattern shown below is for females in Sweden, but is similar in other countries and for males as well.
